Cornas ” Les Arenes” (0.75 L)

Leading off the reds and a wine with outstanding potential, the 2014 Cornas Les Arênes (Arênes is the Spanish word for very finely decomposed granite) comes from the southern region of the appellation; it was completely destemmed and raised in 20% new oak. It’s an elegant, finesse-driven red that has medium to full-bodied richness, excellent ripeness and lots of garrigue, black cherries and smoked herbs on the nose.
