La Reserve (CNDP) (0.75 L)
The most structured wine in the lineup, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve le Clos du Caillou still shows the supple, forward and sexy nature of the vintage beautifully. Made from a blend of 60/40 Grenache and Mourvèdre (there’s slightly less Grenache in 2014), this full-bodied, concentrated and textured beauty knocks it out of the park with its black currants, white pepper, licorice, incense, graphite and Provençal herbs-laced bouquet. One of the top barrel samples I was able to taste, it will benefit from a year or two in bottle and have 10-15 years or overall longevity.
