(CDR) Le Mazet (0.75 L)

A tank sample of the 2022 Cotes du Rhone Le Mazet—a 60-40 blend of Syrah and Grenache from a five-hectare parcel of vines outside of Plan de Dieu—looks to be another bargain offering from this resurgent estate, now being managed by the team at Le Clos du Caillou. Co-fermented and matured in a mix of foudres and oak vats, it’s a full-bodied wine, rich, velvety and perhaps a bit open-knit, with voluminous notes of black cherries and black olives.
