Romanée Conti (0.75 L)

NM:Slightly paler than La Tache. A startling nose of super-ripe cherry, Xmas cake and honey. Quite opulent and intoxicating. The palate is well-balanced with filigree tannins. Quite spicy on the mid-palate – very pure with notes of wild strawberry and citrus acidity. Very fresh, but as usual you get the feeling its not showing its true colours. Very fine, though I prefer La Tache, which is more engaging. Tasted February 2005.
